In this engaging lesson, learners study spiral orb-weaver spiders—examining how their anatomy and instincts enable them to build strong, symmetrical webs. Inspired by these natural engineers, students create their own spiral orb weavings, carefully layering texture and pattern. By combining their woven webs with thoughtfully designed backgrounds, learners transform simple fibers into intricate mixed-media artworks that celebrate artistic creativity and the marvels of natural design.
Engagement Kits are designed for large-scale engagement nights. These kits make hosting a STEAM event easy for coordinators and staff. Kits include: steam challenge(s), all necessary materials, a lesson plan, participant print options, projection options, student examples for reference, guided videos, and setup instructions. Marketing resources can be added for an additional fee. Pricing varies based on the expected number of participants. Engagement kits are available for 50+ participants.
