Engineer STEAM challenge
Engage students in life science and engineering as they explore how animal parents help their young survive. In this lesson, learners investigate different ways mothers transport and protect their offspring—from carrying them in pouches or on their backs to safely moving them away from danger. Using this knowledge, students are challenged to design and build a carrier that can safely transport a baby animal model away from a “predator” during interactive testing. This creative challenge combines empathy, biology, and problem-solving, making survival adaptations and engineering design engaging, meaningful, and memorable for every learner.
Engagement Kits are designed for large-scale engagement nights. These kits make hosting a STEAM event easy for coordinators and staff. Kits include: steam challenge(s), all necessary materials, a lesson plan, participant print options, projection options, student examples for reference, guided videos, and setup instructions. Marketing resources can be added for an additional fee. Pricing varies based on the expected number of participants. Engagement kits are available for 50+ participants.
